Cardcaptor Sakura S.H.Figuarts Unboxing!

Hi there world! This post is going to be about my unboxing of S.H.Figuart's Cardcaptor Sakura Figure!

So I know I'm pretty late on making this unboxing video but I thought I'd go ahead and do the post on it anyway. I ordered her from AmiAmi.com and I used SAL shipping. It shipped out April 1st and arrived April 14. It came packaged really well and I had also ordered a bunch of other things from them too like Miyazaki puzzles among other things.

I used a Fuji FinePix HS10 that I had lying around to shoot the video for this because I thought a fancier camera would make for better quality footage but I was wrong.

There's a lot more options in a fancy camera so my first shooting came out dark. I was only using the LED light from the ceiling but it had been bright enough when I filmed my URF unboxing video and I was only using a simple Canon Powershot A4000  point and shoot camera. Unfortunately it was not the case when I used the HS10. I was able to edit some of the footage in Premiere to make it brighter but ultimately it was pretty crappy.

I ended up buying a couple of simple LED desk lamps that turned out to be pretty nice because the have 3 power settings so I could have a strong main light and a softer fill light.

I wanted to make sure that I got one that could emit a daylight brightness so I could bring out the true colors of whatever I was filming. They work really well so far. Unfortunately, even with this bright setup, I still came out with darker footage when I shot again because of camera settings. I figured out how to adjust for aperature, iso, and white balance on the camera when I am doing a still shot but when I switch to video mode it goes back to auto settings which is dark. I guess I'll just keep researching. Until I figure it out I think I'll just go back to my dinky little Canon Powershot.

Anyways, onto the review... You can watch my video or you can just keep scrolling for some still shot highlights.

I've seen S.H.Figuarts products before at Barnes and Noble with their Sailor Moon line but that packaging is nothing compared to this. They totally went all out. The box has a clear slip over it with a cute picture of Sakura. After taking off the slip cover, You get a box that looks like her Clow Book.

When you open open up the book, you get some pictures of the figure in Sakura's iconic poses from the show. The outer frame of where the figure itself is look kind of like a Clow Card itself. The figure comes with a cardboard photo of what's on the clear case slip and a cloud background.

If you pre-ordered her, you get the bonus handkerchief version of her seal which is cool for photographing her when she summons her card. It includes two plastic clips so you can the plastic card up. The clear base that the figure comes with also has a seal on it.

This is my first S.H.Figuarts figure but from what I've read, a lot of people consider the figures from this brand to be a lower quality version of Good Smile Company's Figmas. However, I think this figure is really top notch. The paint job is done really well and I don't see any paint where it shouldn't be. The sculpt is very detailed with wrinkles and lace on her skirt, sleeve puffs, etc. The interchangeable face plates are also quite detailed. She also comes with Kero but I had a hard time working with him because his tail and wing kept falling off :(

Here I've got her in comparison to her Nendoroid form and Petit Chara form. All three of these figures are very detailed but I still think the nendoroid is my favorite. It's like a chibi form for her and it's incredibly cute.

If you want to get your own S.H.Figuarts Sakura, you can get one at AmiAmi. I only started collecting in January so they are the only site I've used. I missed a lot of releases from Good Smile so I ended up ordering a lot from AmiAmi. I know there's a lot of different sites like Hobby Link Japan and JBox but I haven't gotten around to using them. I did order a SnowBell Miku from Good Smile that will arrive some day... A lot of people have already taken photos and done reviews of her and I can't wait to get my own!

For a more in depth review, watch the unboxing video at the top of this post. I apologize for the poor quality photos. Hopefully I figure out my camera soon and take some really nice ones because these figures photograph so well! Thanks for reading!
